Quick Update- 16 Weeks

I can't believe we are already 16.5 weeks along. This second pregnancy has gone by seemingly much more quickly than Leighton's. I guess it's because I don't have as much time to spend daydreaming about my pregnancy this go around, as I am chasing around a very active almost 2 year old. In the picture above you can see a tiny bump now. However, this was taken after eating. Unfortunately, with clothes on, I still don't really look pregnant. I hate that awkward time of, is she pregnant or has she just put on a few lbs? I thought I would bust right on out with baby #2, as most people say is typical of second pregnancies but I guess being so tall, that rule doesn't really apply to me. Sigh. Maybe by 19-20 weeks I will pop right out like I did with Leighton.

We had our 16 week appointment yesterday and it went really well. My blood pressure was slightly on the low side again. God is really giving me a peace about this. I know this baby and I are in good hands and no matter what, He is in control.

Baby's heartbeat was hard to locate this time because he/she was moving around like crazy! Just like it's big sister. Leighton never stopped moving when she was inside of me, it seemed. I remember being on bed rest in the hospital and it would take soooo long for them to monitor her because she kept moving. Whew, if this is any indication of what we are in for, we may be in trouble. When we finally located sweet baby's heartbeat, it was very strong and just the most beautiful sound.

I had a small outpatient procedure done as well. I won't go in to detail but it had nothing to do with baby or with anything health related at all. It took all of about 2 minutes and we chatted with our awesome doctor for a while before heading home. Another perfect appointment in the books.

We have a wonderful family friend in Fairhope, Alabama (where our families live and where we grew up) who is a ultrasound tech. She will be telling us the gender of baby #2 on November 9th. We will be a day shy of 18 weeks. With Leighton, she told us at 17. She has never been wrong. That evening, so long as baby cooperates, we will have a small get together for close friends and family to reveal the gender of baby #2. We will then have our gender ultrasound with our doctor the following Friday. Getting to see baby twice in one week will be awesome! We can't wait to write again soon with the good news of what we are having and sweet baby's name!
